The hotel was very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was as described and great value for money. The breakfast had an ample variety and also at an appropriate price.

I assume due to the buildings age, squeaky stairs and travelling sound. Not a major problem but might be if a light sleeper.

    0 pro's.

Extremely small, wasteful room. Room was hardly big enough for two people, the bed was ridiculously uncomfy and sounded like it had been used for 20+ years. What you called a wardrobe.. didn't even close. Our 'en suite' wasn't even stretched to our bedroom and was half way down the hall. Our room key also opened the front door.. so slight worry as to who could open our room otherwise. Staff spoke very little English, and for some reason a male receptionist was trying our bathroom door and various other doors after 10pm at night. Place was an absolute dive, dirty, uncomfy, and an absolute maze. Have genuinely never seen such a bad 'hotel' in all my life. Absolutely not worth the £53 pound I paid, you're lucky if that room was worth a tenner. Place needs shut down, re vamped and an absolute make over. 110% would NEVER stay here again.

    Comfortable bed & clean towels.

The hotel looked ok from the outside. Booked in ok. Found our room on the first floor. Room 19. It was small, dark & absolutely freezing cold & that was with the radiator on. The wind was blowing in through the shut window. The blind at the window was dirty & trying to pull the curtain shut was difficult. The ensuite was colder than the bedroom, no radiator. The shower went cold after a few minutes. The T.V. remote had no back on it & we had to get out of bed to change channels. The room was full of cobwebs on the ceiling & the light bulb on the ceiling kept flashing after it was switched off. The stained glass on the landing was broken & the wind was howling through. I would not recommended this hotel to anyone. It needs to be gutted & redone. We will be going back to Edinburgh, BUT WE WILL "NOT" BE STAYING AT THIS HOTEL.

    Relatively close to airport.

More of a substandard-hostel. Small rooms. No proper facilities. No elevator to carry your luggage. And most of all no hot water in the shower. A very big no no!

  • 2.0

Excellent, low-cost accommodation for the traveler on a budget. Microwave and self-catering facilities are very useful and a great money-saver. Every budget hotel should have these. Travelodge et al take note! Rooms are clean and well maintained. En-suite shower room looked as if it had been installed recently.

    None.

    Nothing.

We did not get what was advertised on the hotel's website. The photographs showed nice and bigger rooms, where as we were given a small dingy room with absolutely no space to move. It would probably have been ok for a single bed, but with a double bed in the room, there was hardly any space to move around. The bathroom was the same, with a width of 4 tiles, we had to be careful not to bump into things. While washing my face on the basin I could not bend because there was no space. For the price it was a complete disappointment.

I think Carperts needed through cleaning otherwise, it was a nice place to stay. Easy access to city and to trains.

    Carpets, no elevators.

hotel location was a long way from the sights but there is a bus pick up just across the street. breakfast is convenient and was a fair assortment of items. beds were comfortable. the nice young lady at the desk was helpful and let me print boarding passes without charging and called for a cab to arrive the next morning for our outing.

the bathroom was added to the room and is incredibly small. we ordered a cab and no-one told us it had arrived even though we asked them to so we could get some breakfast. the tv was disconnected on arrival and we weren't informed and had no info to tell us how to connect everything so that took time. no-one was at desk to help us but we figured it out. curtains didn't block out daylight very well considering sunrise was at something like 3am.

This 'hotel' has an atmosphere of pervasive neglect. It felt as though no-one lived there. It was like a haunted house, shadowy and dusty, with nothing welcoming whatsoever in it. I wanted to about turn and go home but it was late at night when I arrived. The tiny bedroom I was allocated had a bed in it with a dirty stained duvet cover, and a horrible home made mdf cupboard type thing that was supposed to be a wardrobe. Disgusting - never never again!

    Leaving!

The room was a loft convertion that you couldnt swing a cat in, The door lock hardly worked due to the amount of times it had been prized open. There was what looked like human or dog hair on the floor. The sockets where coming of the wall. The coat hanger came of the wall when I hang up my jacket. I paid £92 For 1 night, which was a rip off.......

Ok so there are so many mixed reviews for this hotel...but I stayed there for two nights, 20th - 22nd June, and really liked it. Our twin room was modren, furnished lovely and clean. The building is old so the refurbishment is good but lacking attention to detail. Adequately nice. Breakfast included fruit, cereal, tea, coffee and toast...no hot food but it was all that you needed. It was in a good location. No more than 15 mins from the city on the 11 bus route (next stop after Pilrig) and another 15 mins to the Britannia. The staff for very helpful and very much left us to ourselves. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

It is an old building that has probably had corners cut when refurbishing....but honestly is fine and perfectly comfotable to stay in.
